(Old) Windows 8 keeps installing default drivers (Change the way Windows 8 Managers Device Drivers)

This post is no longer relevant as Windows 8 has been replaced.

Right, so I came across this “Feature” when I installed Windows 8 onto an oldish laptop. Windows 8 was running fine but when I tried to install Synaptics Touch pad drivers, the OS would reinstall another touch pad driver essentially disabling my mouse and keyboard. (Annoying!!!! but if I were an average user who just bought a new laptop which was built with Windows 8 in mind, this may have worked a charm.)

So now to my second encounter with this fantastic feature.

Running Sketchup 2013 on a Microsoft Surface Pro.

I just bought a 3D printer, and when it arrives I want to be able to build my own creations. (I will put up a review of the printer when it is here. I am so excited!!!) (more…)

Hard Drive Space

If your C Drive is very low on space, this can in some cases cause your computer to run slow.

I have created a short tutorial on how to use the Windows Clean up tool to free up space on your Hard Drive.

After using a free tool called Tree Size and comparing the reported used space by Windows, I discovered about 60GB of space was missing 40GB of that was not reported in tree size. You can also right click on the Hard Drive e.g. C Drive and go to properties. This will show you how much Hard Drive space is being used and how much you have free.

After a some research I discovered (more…)

Windows Vista SP 2 – Installed

Microsoft has recently released the latest Service Pack for Windows Vista.

A service pack is a collection of software updates, fixes and or enhancements delivered in one package.

When it comes to operating system updates, I recommend they are installed as soon as possible, with service packs I usually read what other peoples experiences are, or install on a test machine to see if any major changes have occurred.

After a bit of research on the latest Service Pack, I say V (more…)
